Disgracin’ The Basin

Got this achievement day before just in the nick of time. I had assaulted two bases during the game, one – the gold mine – at the start when all the bases were neutral and black smith when the alliance had already controlled it for a while. We were doing pretty good with defending our bases and horde had about a minute left to win when I realized that I needed one more capture to get this achievement. Standing at black smith I could see that there was only one Alliance player defending the stables. Seeing a silver lining I ceased the opportunity and a friend and I ran up to stables. Lokregar attacked the alliance player and I cast psychic scream when I got near him. When he was distant enough I started capturing the base. As soon as  alliance player was  out of the incapacitating effects of my fear came running back but my friend death gripped him just in time to keep him from interrupting me. He also further interrupted his run towards me by chaining him in chains of ice giving me enough time to finish the capture. All this while, I was slowly capping the base, while the timer for horde winning the battle kept going. With one second to spare, I finished the capture, and the achievement popped up along with the notification that our team had won. It was a great feeling to not have missed this achievement after coming so close to getting it. Woooot!!!

Thank you Lokregar for helping me get this achievement in the nick of time. Amazing work at keeping the alliance defender away from me while I took away the glory Smile

  1. Nice gameplay. I love to keep people in CC so that someone can capture the flag 🙂 psychic scream is fun. Me and my friends share CC´s as well. I often cast sheeps in similar situations so that my friends can get the flag.

Very nice teamplay you all had done!
Congrats to the archivement. I´ve got the same thing too some time ago.. also because of the help from friends. 🙂 This is why those games are interesting.

    1. Thank you. And, yes, mages have a very nasty CC, which is very difficult to get out of. I have a lot of trouble against frost mages in particular in arenas and battle grounds, since they can keep me CC’d for long durations with deep freeze and polymorph. I used to think Rogues were my nemesis, but I think mages are worse enemies of mine. It is so difficult to out distance you all, I can usually fear rogues and get far away enough to heal myself before the rogue can catch up, but is almost impossible to get away from a mage.

You are right. The game is fun because of friends and was my biggest motivator for coming back.

      1. True. Mage is really a CC-mashine. A complete pole of differend CC´s which makes it fun to play mage. Mage is my main class since release. I really love it and when my friends demand that I play CC tactics, I am ok with it. It fits to my play style anyhow.

But playing in group its fun to see that each class just has hot things on board and played together for a while, it becomes routine to CC rotational in the team in hot situations.

      2. Same here. Friends are my biggest motivation factor as well for activating WoW time by time. Without them I would not do it often and maybe I never would activate again. Im not sure.
